Supporting a charity isn't just about giving money! We are grateful to anyone who will help us help young people and make the communities of Somerset even better. Here are a few ideas of how you could get involved:

Volunteering

We frequently rely upon the skills and enthusiasm of volunteers to assist our paid staff with Youth Work sessions. The work we do is incredibly rewarding and has clear benefits for the young people we work with, their families and the rural communities of Somerset.

If you would like to find out more about how you can get involved, please contact Andrea White at our Edington office, telephone number 01278 722100 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Fundraising

There are many ways of getting involved in fundraising for adults and young people. You can enjoy the challenge of creating and coordinating events, or even just seek sponsorship for an event you are already doing. Chances to get involved include:

  • Young persons fundraising group. This is run every other week on a Tuesday evening. We all know young people have the best ideas and we aim to make them happen. We help you to pick from the best of your ideas and support you put these into practice. Regular participants may also get the opportunity to gain a qualification in social enterprise; a qualification we are piloting this year! As well as this, this style of charity work is ideal for those looking to boost their CV for College, University or employment. Please contact Steve Baker on 01278 722100 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for more information.
  • Friends of SRYP. We hope in the near future to build a group of friends to support our organisation, who will act as a fundraising committee. You will have the opportunity to create large and small fundraising initiatives. This is a great opportunity to make a difference whilst having fun! Please contact Greg Kyd for more details.
  • One off events to make a difference. Perhaps you are looking for a reason to get fit or are a regular runner? Why not enter an event and use our Sponsor Form to raise money? For those with big fundraising ambitions, we could even set up your own online fundraising page for you! Choose from our innovative projects to fundraise for, listed on the left of the page. Please contact Greg Kyd for more details.

Donations and sponsorship

As a registered charity, we are dependent upon a range of funders and especially on the goodwill and support available from donations or more regular sponsorship.

Our staff make our limited resources go a very long way and every contribution is essential. Take a look at some of our projects and causes, listed to the left of the page, you could support and keep in our local communities! You can check out our 6 ways to give and see which suits you best!
