Somerset Rural Youth Project (SRYP), a voluntary youth work charity working with young people aged 11-25 in rural Somerset.

We:

  • Provide individual young people with advice and support.
  • Offer a wide range of Volunteering Opportunities.
  • Support young people’s involvement in their Community.
  • Provide access to and participation in Positive Activities.

SRYP have a vision of a Somerset where rural young people feel a sense of belonging, a willingness to contribute and a future that is not limited by access to opportunities and services.

We aim to engage and support young people living in rural areas in a range of social, economic, educational and recreational opportunities designed to encourage social inclusion and life-long learning. Use the links on the left to find out more about what we do.

Dr. Stuart Burgess and Adam Lavis, Chairman and Senior Policy Officer of Commission for Rural Communities respectively, with the young people they met and listened to the concerns of during their meeting on Tuesday December 13th.

The meeting is one of many that will form the basis of the nationwide review to be presented early in the new year to the Government and other bodies that CRC is currently carrying out entitled “Employment, Education and Training for young people in rural areas".
